A BRAND NEW FUTURE

Stepping Stones Pre-Primary School was establish 21 years ago and has positioned itself firmly as an independent pre-school of excellence in the Sandton community.  It is registered with ISASA (Independent Schools’ Association of Southern Africa). Presently a community of 200 learners ‘learn through play’ every day in a secure, child-centred educational environment.
It expanded its educational offering to include a preparatory school phase, due to the desperate shortage of primary schools in this central, corporate hub of Sandton.

Sandhurst Preparatory College opened its doors in 2014 and now educates just over 100 eager learners in a wonderful, independent preparatory school. Registered with both the GDE and ISASA, a new grade will open each year and they will offer Grade 7 in 2020. By remaining intimate and caring, no child is left behind. Each child is afforded a myriad of opportunities to reach their personal best, supported by a phenomenal team of teachers and support staff.
The school directors Rodney and Don Hemphill recently appointed a Partner Principal to work alongside Margot van Ryneveld to ensure the school community is afforded the best support from highly skilled and well-qualified educational leaders. Margot has lead the school for the past 16 years and holds an Honours degree in Education. Mr Roger Looyen, the new partner principal holds a Master’s Degree in Education and is presently completing his Doctoral thesis in Moral leadership and its impact on learner achievement. These two well-respected and passionate educational leaders will jointly guide and support a team of 52+ staff in ensuring that each and every child in their care is able to reach their personal best in a nurturing and educationally sound environment.
Stepping Stones and Sandhurst Preparatory College both offer an extensive range of extra-mural and co-curricular activities to enhance and consolidate the core foundational skills taught in class. The co-curricular activities include: Physical Education, Music, Zulu, Swimming and Computers: Reading Eggs and Mathletics.  The extra-murals include: Ballet, Chess, Gardening Club, Guitar, Piano, Voice, Music theory, Recorder, Mandarin, Yoga, Karate, Cricket, Rasa Indian dance, Tennis, Soccer and Drama.
All learners are encouraged to be active, caring citizens and support a community of learners at a NGO called ‘The Village’. Monthly, child-led cupcake sales generate income to buy books, toys and puzzles for these at-risk learners. We also encourage donations of clothing, toys and books.
The children have their learning further enriched through monthly exposure to puppet shows and theatre productions in the school hall. Annual visits from providers like the Zoo or Mobile Incubator are hands on learning opportunities. The older learners go on bus trips to Delta Park, or the Planetarium as well as to other child-specific venue like Sci-Bono or the Transport Museum.
All children afforded access to this nurturing, intimate independent school environment blossom and thrive and are more than adequately equipped to face any and all academic challenges. Call today and come to meet the team.
